This book is a short story anthology, consisting of - you guessed it - 8 tales! The title might imply that "luck" factors into each story, but I don't think that's quite correct. Luck certainly does factor into some of them, but others I think go way beyond "luck". In some cases I would go so far as to say miracles were necessary to result in the stories ending the way they did. Some of the tales in this book really pack an emotional wallop. Some may cause you to tear up a bit, while others will just leave you with an overall good feeling.I don't recall any profanities or sexual situations in any of these tales, so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the book for anybody. Even middle-grade students are not too young to enjoy, or even learn from, these tales. I have to commend Jerry Battiste for the excellent job he did in composing these tales, and in collating them into this anthology. This is a must-read, if short, anthology.

Highly recommended. A great addition to my kindle with memorable characters, well-written stories and beautiful language throughout. I found myself thinking about these stories well after I finished reading them
